One More to Grow On

What an amazing weekend. First of all, let me say the CFCP team rocked! It was an honor to train and compete with these dedicated athletes. It was an quite an experience witnessing the CFCP Team's hard training culminate into 4 workouts. (Here's the video of the team on Day 2, courtesy of Running Bull Media) I deliberately watched the WOD we would have done on Sunday had we made the Top 10. (We came in 11th place by 4 points) My competitive edge and ego felt a burn as I stared at the empty row on WOD 6 due to one team forfeiting. I contemplated where I could have helped my team gain a few extra seconds or a couple more reps to get us those points we missed. After going through the emotional cycle of guilt and disappointment, I took this experience and added it to the cache of humbling character-building moments I have had in my life. The burn turned to fueled motivation.

Before the Teams had completed WOD 6, I already started planning a new focus to my training program. New goals formed in my mind. Instead of thinking, "Maybe this just isn't for me.", I re-affirmed my desire to stay in CrossFit Competition. I am so thankful to take away from this lesson and develop laser focus on the next milestone.

When I used to race, I required several days off after a marathon. For CrossFit, I took Sunday off, and went right back to the gym Monday to do some serious work at the squat rack. I was a little sore from the weekend, but ready to get right back in the game.

Liz's BeastQuest 2011 has commenced!
